Dental implant process in Vietnam

Dental implants serve as a permanent solution for replacing missing teeth.  For a successful smile restoration, it's crucial to follow healing time to ensure you have long lasting smile without any complications. Our dentists in Vietnam follow gold standard in restoring your smile, as follow:

1st step: The process involves extracting a damaged root and drilling a hole into the jawbone, where a small titanium post (implant fixture) is surgically placed to serve as an artificial tooth root. The implant fixture is given time to heal and achieve osseointegration, in which the bone fuses to the fixture, creating a solid and permanent base. Then dental implant healing caps are placed on top of implant posts after the procedure. These caps are temporary fixtures with cylindrical or dome-shaped and fit snugly over the implant to promote healing, shape gum line, prevent contamination, and facilitate osseointegration by maintaining stability and shielding the implant during the critical initial healing phase.

2nd step: Once the fixture has healed and osseointegrated, it will then be time to attach the prosthetic tooth to complete the smile line. Because the fixture lies directly inside the bone below the gumline, a connective piece between the prosthetic tooth and the fixture is needed as an extender piece which is an abutment. The abutment is a short screw that attaches directly to the middle of the implant fixture and provides a connector between the two components. The abutment may be tooth colored, or it may be fabricated simply out of metal.

3rd step: Acrylic crowns are placed on implant. This is used as an immediate restorative option post implant placement (2-3 days after). They are meant for temporary wear for only 3-9 months. The maximum time you can wear them is 12 months. It typically takes 6 weeks to 3 months for the post to be ready to receive an abutment. A crown is then fitted on top of the post, after the bone has started to grow around it, securing it in place. Dental implants provides a strong foundation for allow for fixed or removable replacement teeth, such as crowns, bridges, or implant-supported dentures.

4th step: Porcelain, Emax, or Zirconia Crowns on titanium implants.

Your teeth will need to heal for 3-6 months before placing permanent crowns on because they need to be able to hold the weight of full porcelain crowns.

How long do you have to stay in Vietnam to get dental implants?

Dental implants will require two trips. The first trip, you'll do step 1-3, you'll return home with new smile. After 6 months, you should go back to Vietnam to replace the temporary acrylic veneers with the permanent porcelain, emax, or zirconia crowns (step 4). You'll need to stay in Vietnam between 16 days for the first trip and 8-10 days for the second trip (excluding your travel dates). Message us on +61402555579 and provide us with your photos and 3D CBCT Xrays to get a free assessment from our dentists.

Why some dentists advertise that we only need to do one trip?

Some unethical dentists may hide the facts that the acrylic crowns are meant to be worn temporary between 3-6 months to led you to believe you have a better deal. In fact, you get unfinished dental restoration. Should you wear longer, they will chip and break and also affect your implant fixtures as well. If a dentist allows one visit or a shorter time, you should be very wary. If you cannot return within 6 months, you should try to make the second trip to replace acrylic crowns to permanent crowns within 6-12 months.
